How to clean mini blinds

Mini blinds are closely related to the popular venetian blinds. Mini blinds are made out of multiple horizontal slats and they are held together by a string pretty much like the venetians.

The major difference is that the slats are a low narrower (about half the width) of the venetians. Therefore you get a lot more slats in a single blind. The slats can be opened or closed by rotating a rod that is attached to the head rail and slats. The lift system is similar to venetian where it utilizes a simple cord mechanism to raise and close the blinds. However I must clarify that in some countries the minis are also known as venetian blinds.

Cleaning mini blinds are about the same as any other blinds. If you have wooden blinds then obviously you shouldn’t be washing them with soap and water as it will ruin them. You usually just need to dust them frequently to ensure that they are not dusty. You can just use a feather duster or other products that are specifically for cleaning blinds. However I think for normal use the feather duster does the job pretty well. So all you need to turn the slats until they close on one side and start dusting them. Do the same on the other side. Then use a piece of clean cloth or rag, wet it just a bit and wipe the edges of the slats.

For the plastic ones you can remove the blinds from the window. Fill up your bath tub or a large pail with water. Then mix it with either a multi-purpose cleaning liquid or just white distilled vinegar which is great at removing odors as well. Soak the blinds in the water for about an hour or so. Then hang it up and rinse it in the shower. Wipe it with a piece of dry cloth and hang it up to dry.
