Before I go on to talk about how to clean your vinyl blinds, let’s talk about what exactly is vinyl. I thought it would be a good idea to clarify this because some folks might not know this. Well vinyl is actually a type of plastic which is made out of a substance that is usually found in crude oil called ethylene.

The way that vinyl is made is that they will take this substance and mix it with chlorine, process it and form vinyl or popularly known as PVC. Ok now that we have clarified this point now we can move on to the cleaning part.

Here are some of the things that you before to get started, a hose, spray bottle, clean cloth, white distilled vinegar and a bucket. Then make a solution using the vinegar and water in the bucket. You will need to remove the blinds and take it outdoors or you can also do it in the bathroom if you stay in an apartment. Drape it over a rail or something solid that you don’t mind it getting wet.

Pour the white distilled vinegar (not the solution) into the spray bottle and spray it on the slats of the blind but not the head rail. Then take the solution from the bucket using the cloth and wipe on the slats. Finally use the hose and spray the blinds with water and let it out to dry. This method should effectively clean the dirt and other stuff off your vinyl blinds.
