One of the most environmentally friendly materials that we can use for our furniture has got to be bamboo. It is a lot better than timber because it does not harm the environment and bamboos grow pretty quickly as opposed to trees which could take between 10-20 years to mature.

Nowadays you can use bamboo to make just about anything from chairs, tables, mats to blinds. Bamboo blinds are getting pretty popular in the west because they provide the natural and warm feeling to the home décor. Furthermore they are relatively more affordable if compared to wooden blinds.

There are different styles of bamboo blinds. The first one is slat blind where it is made out of flat thin slats and they are woven together horizontally. It’s one of the most commonly used bamboo blinds in the market. Next is matchstick blinds. The bamboo is cut into thin round sticks as opposed to the flat ones and they are woven together pretty much the same way as the slat ones.

The other popular one is roller blinds where you can roll it up when raising the blinds. The roller style is commonly used in the outdoor bamboo blinds as you easily rolled it up if you need more sun into your patio or verandah. Likewise when it is really hot you can just un-roll the blinds to lower it.

Finally there is the roman shades where it retracts and fold up in sections when raised. The shades are really effective in keeping out the sunlight as compared to the slat type of blinds The type or style depends very much on what type window or home décor that you have.
