Before we go into the steps to install your bamboo shades I think it is good to clarify the difference between outside mount and inside mount shades. There is not a lot of difference between the two except that the outside mount ones cover the window frame including a bit of the wall on both sides. Where as the inside mount ones only cover the inside of the window frame without touching the wall.
Now that I have gotten that off my chest let’s talk about how to install outside mount bamboo shades. Obviously you need tools to do that. All you need are just measuring tape, screw driver, power drill and pencil.
First of all hold the head rail of the shades and place it on the wall above your window frame. Make sure that it is level and then put a mark there with the pencil on both sides. Then measure where you are going to put the brackets to hold the shades and make the mark on the wall as well. Once this is done then the power drill to make the holes to insert the screws to hold the brackets. Then fix the brackets on and make sure you tighten them properly.
Each bracket comes with a wing screw which is used to hold the head rail of the shades. Then hang the head rail onto the wing screw, make sure that the head rail is even on both sides then you can tighten the screw.
Finally it is time to test the shades. Try lowering and raising the shades and the movement should be smooth. If not then you have to do the necessary adjustment. If you have young children at home you might want to consider hanging up the cord of the shades by using a clip. The cord is an hazardous item for pre school kids.
