What are faux wood blinds? Faux wood is a type synthetic material that is strong and durable. It looks like wood but does not have the problems that are associated with it. So furniture that are made out of faux wood such as blinds are resistant to water damage and termites attack. So you can clean them with water without having to worry about damaging it.
Installing faux wood blinds is not difficult, all you need is a power drill, measuring tape, pencil and screw driver and you are all set to go. If you are going for inside mount blinds you need to measure the height and width of your window frame. Once you have the measurement then you can go and purchase your blinds or have them custom made depending on your preference. The custom-made ones are more expensive but you can have them designed to your whim and fancy. Now please note that the width of the blinds should be slightly smaller than your window frame otherwise you will have problems raising and lowering it.
The blinds usually come with 2 brackets for the left and right side of your window frame. All you need to do is to install these brackets at the top of the left and right side of your window frame. However you might want to leave like a half inch gap between the top of the frame and your bracket. Mark it with pencil on where you want to drill the holes to insert in the screws to hold your brackets. Use your power drill to make the holes to about the same depth of your screw. I would recommend using a one of half inch screw so that it can hold your bracket and blinds tightly.
Once the brackets are installed then it’s time to mount your blinds onto it. Place the head rail of the blinds onto the brackets and slide it into place and close the lever on the left and right side of the head rail. Depending on the types of faux wood blinds that you get but most of them come with a fascia board to decorate the head rail. Some of them use clips and others use Velcro. Whatever it is just make sure that you remember to install the fascia board onto the head rail nicely and you are done! Finally try to raise and lower the blinds to ensure the movement is smooth.
