Cleaning Venetian blinds is usually a tedious effort for most folks. It is challenging to clean each and every horizontal slats on the blinds as you cannot apply too much pressure on them otherwise it might damage them. Furthermore the cords that hold the slats together usually get in the way when you try to wipe the slats clean. Well in my opinion it is actually not that difficult when it comes to cleaning Venetian blinds. Here are some tips that you can follow.

1) First of all you need to clean and maintain your blinds regularly. All you need is a feather duster. Turn the slats close and gently dust the surface of the slats. After you are done with one side turn the slats close on the other side and repeat the procedure.

2) For a more thorough clean, use a pail of warm water, some dish washer and a piece of soft cloth or rag. Mix a little bit of the dish washer into the water. Wet the rag and squeeze it drain out the water as much as possible. Then use the rag to wipe each of the horizontal slat gently. You can use this method not only for vinly Venetian blinds but also on the wooden ones.

3) The next step that I am talking about is only suitable for non wooden blinds as it requires the blinds to be soaked in water. The first thing you need to do is to pull the cord to condense the blinds. Then remove it from the head rail. Put a piece of towel on floor of your bath tub then place the Venetian blinds on it. Fill the tub with water until you cover the blinds. Add some dish washer and vinegar. Soak it for 1-2 hours. Then rinse the blinds and place it on a piece of dry towel to dry them off. Once dry you can mount the blinds back to the head rail and you should have a thoroughly clean blinds by then. This third step is specifically for those blinds that have dirt stains on them that could not be remove using the procedure in step 2.
